What kind of medicine do you offer?

In addition to offering general medicine consultations focusing on preventative care and treatment of minor illness using western medicine, Dr. Harrison also offers integrative holistic care in the home.

For more information, visit our SERVICES page.

What is integrative veterinary medicine?

Integrative Medicine refers to a system that blends conventional Western medicine with Eastern medicine, holistic, ayurvedic, and functional/physical medicine. Because Dr. Harrison is dually trained, she is qualified to determine whether the use of Western medicine, holistic medicine, acupuncture, or a combination of these would be in the best interest of your pet.

How long are the visits?

Dr. Harrison typically spends 1.5-2 hours with a family for the initial consultation. Subsequent sessions are generally 30-60 minutes long, depending on the nature of what your pet may need.

How does your estimated arrival time work?

Dr. Harrison gives a 30 minute window for her estimated time of arrival due to Los Angeles traffic, as well as variables involved with working with animals with medical conditions. Dr. Harrison will usually send a text when she is on her way, and if she is running behind schedule, she will let you know!

Do you see patients for emergencies?

We do not. Dr. Harrison is experienced in emergency medicine, but is not set up to provide emergency care in the home. She is available by appointment Monday-Friday from 9am-7pm. If urgent care is required, or you can not reach us, please call your local veterinarian or any of the emergency clinics listed here.

Do you offer euthanasia?

Marigold Veterinary does not offer euthanasia at this time, but we are certainly able to support you in providing referrals for trusted in-home euthanasia providers when needed.

What diagnostic testing do you do at home?

Blood pressure monitoring, fecal testing, fluorescein corneal staining, cytologies, fine needle aspirates of lumps and bumps, respiratory panels, routine wellness blood work (non-urgent) and urine testing*. For more information, visit our DIAGNOSTICS page.

Do you offer all services that a full service veterinary clinic offers?

Marigold Veterinary is not a full service veterinary clinic. We generally do not offer surgery, procedures, or extensive diagnostics in the home. So we do recommend to keep a rapport with a veterinarian in a clinic in case of emergency. Dr. Harrison can recommend some good ones if you are looking for a brick and mortar clinic with which to develop a rapport. For information on Marigold Veterinary SERVICES, click here.

Where do you travel to provide house call services?

Dr. Harrison is based out of the Westside of Los Angeles, but travels to most places within the Greater Los Angeles area. Among many other places, Dr. Harrison travels to Baldwin Hills, Brentwood, Culver City, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Santa Monica, West Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Westchester, Venice, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Valley Village, Van Nuys, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Benedict Canyon, Beverlywood, Calabasas, Century City, Cheviot Hills, Coldwater Canyon, Franklin Canyon, Laurel Canyon, Rancho Park, Palms, Pico-Robertson, South Bay, Topanga, Westwood, and other areas.

Dr Harrison also is able to travel to Ojai, San Diego, Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, and other areas in Southern California in special circumstances with a bit of extra planning. Additional fees apply for travel time.

Can I bring my pet to you instead of having you come to us?

Dr. Harrison does not see Marigold Veterinary patients in her home or at any specific clinic. Marigold Veterinary travels to your home to make things easier on your companion!

What are your prices?

Pricing is based on location and travel time to get to you. Dr. Harrison’s fees are similar to those of her colleagues practicing high quality personalized & integrative veterinary medicine in the home. If requested, Dr. Harrison can provide an estimate before any services are performed. Prices can be found on our booking page and our FEES page.

What extra fees are there for coming to my house? Will it cost more than a regular vet?

The primary price difference between Marigold Veterinary and a traditional clinic is the length of time Dr. Harrison will spend with you and your pets. We believe that there is an intangible value to the individual attention you and your companion will receive from Dr. Harrison in the comfort of your home, and as such, her consultation fees reflect this.

The cost of services such as lab work & administration of medications or fluids are similar to local averages.

The only true additional cost may be a “travel” fee in some locations to cover increased driving time in traffic and fuel costs. Prices can be found on our booking page and our FEES page.

Are discounts available?

Sliding payment scales are available under some circumstances. If you are in need of a sliding scale due to financial hardship, please let us know, by emailing us at info@marigoldveterinary.com

Will insurance cover acupuncture?

Many pet insurance companies cover acupuncture as well as integrative and holistic care. There are many different pet insurance companies with differing policies. The most common way that pet insurance works is that you pay the veterinarian at the time services are provided, and then your insurance company reimburses you directly. Typically, you will submit a pet insurance claim form to your insurance company. At the request of your insurance company, we may submit your pet’s medical record directly to them.
