Aqua-puncture has become a commonly performed variant of acupuncture. We inject a small amount of Vitamin B12 into the acupuncture points, rather than placing and leaving acupuncture needles for an extended period of time. With aqua-puncture, the patient gets the added benefit of having the points stimulated with B12, which remains in the acupuncture point longer.
This can be especially beneficial and useful for animals that will not tolerate having needles placed for long periods of time. We can use aqua-puncture instead of traditional acupuncture in these pets.
Vitamin B12 injections and/or aqua-puncture positively support the animal and can support energy, mood, gastrointestinal and neurologic function, as well as DNA and red blood cell health. This may be especially beneficial for older animals or pets with gastrointestinal issues who may not be absorbing B12 normally through their GI tracts.
